23andMe Partners with (RED)

23andMe announced that it has partnered with (RED). This is the first time that 23andMe has done this. Purchase a limited edition 23andMe DNA kit – while supplies last. Some of the cost of the purchase will go to help fight AIDS.

As you may know, 23andMe is a mission-driven company with big dreams of using data to revolutionize health, wellness, and research. They want to improve health care, prevent disease, and give people control over their health data. They also want to dramatically accelerate the pace of research.

(RED) was founded in 2006 by Bono and Bobby Shriver to harness the power of people and companies to help fight AIDS. (RED) partners with the world’s most iconic brands that contribute up to 50% of profits from (RED)-branded goods and services to the Global Fund.

23andMe has made available a total of 25,000 23andMe (RED) Health + Ancestry kits. Those DNA kits will be available for purchase on Amazon, on the 23andMe website, and in certain retail outlets. The limited edition 23andMe (RED) DNA kits will sold through December 31, 2017 (or until they run out of stock). A total of 5% of the purchase of every kit will be donated to fight AIDS.

There is no difference between the (RED) limited edition Health + Ancestry DNA kit and the regular 23andMe Health + Ancestry DNA kit. Each includes 5 Ancestry reports: Ancestry Composition, Maternal Haplogroup, Paternal Haplogroup, Neanderthal Ancestry and Your DNA Family. Each also includes more than 75 online reports that are split into the following categories: Genetic Health Risk Reports, Wellness Reports, Traits Reports, and Carrier Status Reports.

Genealogists who are only interested in the Ancestry Reports can purchase a 23andMe DNA kit that only includes those reports. It is slightly less expensive than the version that includes Health + Ancestry reports. The (RED) limited edition kits are only available with the Health + Ancestry included. The (RED) kits are not available with only the Ancestry Reports.

In addition, 23andMe is offering both their Ancestry Service DNA kits, and their Health + Ancestry Service DNA kits at a discounted price through December 26, 2017. You can get up to 50% off per kit, plus free gift wrap. The Ancestry Service is usually $99, and is on sale for $79. The Health + Ancestry kit is usually $199 and is on sale for $149 while this sale lasts.
