Not only do you want to celebrate having any siblings and how you all grew up together, but it is important to know more about the siblings your relatives have, because they could have had a big effect on your ancestor’s life.
April 10th was marked National Siblings Day and founded by native New Yorker, Claudia Evart in 1995 to honor and celebrate siblings. It is not a national holiday like mother’s or father’s day, but many are working to help get that established. True, not everyone has siblings, either an individual was an only child or one’s siblings have passed away. Learning about each one is important in completing a family tree. It is estimated that about 80% of all American have one or more siblings.
Some sibling sayings:
“A sister can be seen as someone who is both ourselves and very much not ourselves – a special kind of double.”
“The best thing about having four big brothers is you always have someone to do something for you.”
“Is solace anywhere more comforting than in the arms of a sister.”
