Many take the form of live webinars that are presented by some of the most popular genealogy websites. You can also find videos of classes that were presented at big genealogy conferences after the event is over. These are scattered across the internet, which makes them hard to find. Fortunately, Ancestry Academy has tons of videos all in one place.

Ancestry Academy is something that is being offered by Ancestry.com. It is a collection of videos that provide helpful information to genealogists who want to learn more about a specific genealogy related thing. The videos have been put into collections based on topic.

Topics include:

* Ancestry Products – 17 videos

* Records – 18 videos

* Methodology and Skills – 9 videos

* Localities and Ethnic Research – 12 videos

More videos are being added. One way to find out what has been newly added is to check the Ancestry.com blog. They make a post about the new courses that have been added to Ancestry Academy.

In May of 2016, three brand new courses were added to Ancestry Academy. “Behind the Scenes: The Science Behind Ancestry DNA Results” features Dr. Catherine Ball, who walks you through what goes into bringing you AncestryDNA results and other features.

“The Lure of the Train Whistle: Researching Railroad Workers” features Paula Stuart-Warren, who shows you how to discover the railroad stories in your family tree. “Ancestors, Family, and Associates in the War of 1812 Records” featured David E. Rencher, who shows you what military records are available to help unravel your family mysteries.

In June of 2016, added a series of Short Courses. Each one gives you quick tips about a specific topic. All of the Short Courses are five minutes (or less). All of the Short Courses are free to watch, but you may be required to create a new login is this is your first time viewing Ancestry Academy classes.

The newest Short Courses start with some of the basics of the U.S. Federal Census:

* 1850 Census: An Introduction

* 1890 Census: Where is it?

* 1880 Census: An Overview

* Introduction to the 1940 Census

Those who want unlimited access to the entire Ancestry Academy library must purchase a membership. The Monthly membership costs $11.99 a month. The Annual membership costs $99.99 a year. The All Access membership costs $199 for six months. In addition to giving you access to all courses, it also gives you access to Ancestry.com, Fold3, and a basic membership to Newspapers.com.
