Genealogy Roadshow Starts in May  Find more genealogy blogs at FamilyTree.comThe Genealogy Roadshow is about to release season 3! The brand new episodes will air beginning on May 17, 2016. Episodes from season one and season two are available on the Genealogy Roadshow website. The Genealogy Roadshow has been described as “part detective story, part emotional journey”. It combines history and science to uncover fascinating stories of diverse Americans.

The Genealogy Roadshow is similar in format to the Antiques Roadshow. Both shows are on PBS. Both shows feature people who have a special antique or heirloom that they want to know more about. Those that bring items to the Antiques Roadshow are typically trying to find out how much their item is worth. People bring items to the Genealogy Roadshow in an effort to learn more about the family member who owned that item.

Kenyatta D. Berry is one of the genealogists who is involved with the Genealogy Roadshow. She has more than fifteen years experience in genealogical research and writing. She is also the Past President of the Association of Professional Genealogists (APG) and on the Council of the Corporation for the New England Historic Genealogical Society (NEHGS) in Boston.

Joshua Taylor, MA, MLS, is also involved with the Genealogy Roadshow. He is a professional genealogist and founder of Historations. He is the current president of the Federation of Genealogical Societies (FGS) and is the former Director of Education and Programs at the New England Historic Genealogical Society (NEHGS). He is also Director of Family History at FindMyPast.

Mary M. Tedesco is also involved in the Genealogy Roadshow. She is the Founder of ORIGINS ITALY, a firm specializing in Italian and Italian-American genealogical and family history research. She is the co-author of “Tracing Your Italian Ancestors”, an 84-page Italian research guide published by Moorshead Magazines.

Season 3 of the Genealogy Roadshow has seven episodes. Those episodes take place in Albuquerque, Miami, Houston, Boston, and Providence. One episode is titled “Genealogy Roadshow Our Favorite Stories” and will feature pieces of shows from previous seasons.

The Genealogy Roadshow website has a section called Discover Your Genealogy. It provides tips for beginning genealogists who want to start researching their own family’s history. It has a list of hints about foundation documents, tips for beginning research, and hints that will help make your search a success.

Right now, the Genealogy Roadshow is casting for season 4. Those who are interested in participating in season 4 can fill out a casting application. One of the questions on the application is: “What specific questions would you like answered (include relevant names, dates, and places as available)?”
