Gwinnett County Public Library Adds Genealogy Resources



The Gwinnett County Public Library has several locations in Gwinnett County, Georgia. They have added new genealogy resources for Gwinnett County residents who are searching for long-lost relatives.

Gwinnett County Public Library added FindmyPast, Fold3, and Gale Genealogy Connect to their genealogy catalog. Their resources already include Ancestry Library Edition and HeritageQuest.

Findmypast – Library Edition – is a family history and genealogy resource and one of the leading suppliers of online family history that is currently offering access to a collection of over 2 billion historical records covering the United States, England, Wales, Scotland, Ireland, Australia, and New Zealand. It is only available within the library.

Fold3 by Ancestry – Library Edition – features premier collections of original military records. These records include the stories, photos, and personal documents of the men and women who served in the military. Fold3 records are courtesy of The National Archives of U.K., and many other sources. Fold3 is only available within the library.

Gale Genealogy Connect – features a wide range of comprehensive references. It is powered by authoritative information from Genealogy.com – the parent company of Genealogical Publishing, and Clearfield Company (leading publishers of works on genealogy and family history). Gale Genealogy Connect has unique references, available for the first time online in fully searchable format.

Ancestry – Library Edition – is only available within the library. Ancestry Library Edition is distributed exclusively by ProQuest and powered by Ancestry.com. It delivers billions of records in census data, vital records, directories, photos, and more.

HeritageQuest Online – is a comprehensive treasury of American genealogical sources. It is rich in unique primary sources, local and family histories, convenient research guides, interactive maps, and more.

Galileo – is an online library portal to authoritative, subscription-only information that isn’t available through free search engines or Web directories. Galileo databases include full-text newspapers, magazines, and scholarly journals.

Ancestry Library Edition, Fold3, and FindmyPast are only available within the library. Other resources can be accessed by library card holders from home.

People who are residents of Gwinnett County; Gwinnett County school employees; Gwinnett County government and city government employees; Georgia Gwinnett College and Technical College students, faculty and staff; Gwinnett County business owners (with proof if ownership); and Gwinnett County property owners (with deed or property tax bill) can visit the Gwinnett County Public Library website to apply for a library card.
