Watch the Thursday Sessions from RootsTech 2017



RootsTech 2017 had a lot going on – all at the same time. It would be impossible for one person to see absolutely everything. Fortunately, there is a way to catch some of what you missed. You can watch videos of the Thursday Sessions from RootsTech 2017 on the RootsTech 2017 website.

Full Session
This video features the entire RootsTech 2017 General Session. It features Drew Scott and Jonathan Scott, who are television personalities. The video also features Steve Rockwood, who is President and CEO of FamilySearch. This video is about one hour and forty minutes long.

Drew and Jonathan Scott
Drew Scott and Jonathan Scott are twin brothers. You might recognize them from the popular HGTV television show “The Property Brothers”. At age 17, the brothers purchased their first fixer-upper, completed renovations, and sold it one year later for a $50,000 profit. Their video is about 50 minutes long.

Steve Rockwood
Steve Rockwood is the President and CEO of FamilySearch. He has made it his mission to emphasize the emotional side of family history work, make family history exciting for everyone by involving people of all ages, and encourage the sharing and development of new technology to make records, photos, and memories more accessible. His video is about 30 minutes long.

MyHeritage
This video features Aaron Godfree, who is Vice President of Marketing at MyHeritage. His video is about 9 minutes long.

Getting Started in Genealogy
Kelli Bergheimer talks about getting started in genealogy. She shares some of the things that she knows now (and wished that she knew when she was a beginner). Her video is about 50 minutes long.

DNA: The Glue that Holds Families Together
This video features Diahan Southard from Your DNA Guide. She talks about DNA and genealogy, and points out that it is only in recent years that the two have been put together into genetic genealogy. She shares her story. This video is almost an hour long.

DNA Matching on MyHeritage
This video features Dana Drutman. She is the Product Manger at MyHeritage and works in Israel. She shares information about the MyHeritage DNA. This video is about 35 minutes long.

Building Powerful Youth Consultants
This video features Bryan Austad, who works for FamilySearch International. His current assignment is “Discovery Experiences”. He discusses how to get youth interested in family history. This video is almost one hour long.

Jewish Genealogy: Where to Look and What’s Available
This video features Lara Diamond. She points out the resources that are available for Jewish Genealogy, starting with the ones in the United States and Canada. This video is about 45 minutes long.
