My name is Meredith Ethington and I am so excited for the opportunity to take on this challenge of sharing, writing, and blogging all about scrapbooking your family history.
Scrapbooking is a topic near and dear to my heart. So, is genealogy. I started scrapbooking almost 12 years ago when I was a full-time missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I was hooked. My style of scrapbooking has definitely changed over time, but the purpose behind it hasn’t. I want my descendants to know who I am. I want to preserve memories.
As a member of the Mormon church, genealogy is important to me too. We believe that we can be eternally linked to our families through doing our family history. We believe that it is our responsibility to do our family history.
Put all of this together, and here I am. I am a stay at home Mom to two wonderful children, ages 4 and 2. I have been married to my husband for 8 years. We currently live in Salt Lake City, UT, although I grew up in Texas, and am very proud of that fact! I have a bachelor’s degree from the University of Utah in Psychology and minor in Human Development and Family Studies. I have been blogging for a few years, but last year got the opportunity to do it professionally at the wonderful website www.families.com. I still blog for them about a myriad of topics, and love having the opportunity to share my personal experiences with others. Writing has become a hobby/passion of mine.
When asked to blog about Scrapbooking & Family History, I jumped on the opportunity. It was a combination of two things I feel strongly about. So, I’m happy to be here, and can’t wait to embark on this journey with all of you, to help you in preserving your family history through scrapbooking.
