Family History Libraries Temporarily Close Due to COVID-19

FamilySearch posted a notice to let everyone know that some Family History Libraries and Centers will be temporarily closed due to COVID-19. The notice was written by David E. Rencher, Director of the Family History Library. FamilySearch recommends that you call ahead if you have concerns about local closures.

Out of concern for the health and safety of their guests, volunteers, and staff, the Family History Library in Salt Lake City temporarily closed at 5:00 p.m. on Friday, March 13, 2020 until further notice. This closure is to support preventative efforts to control the spread of COVID-19.

Regional FamilySearch centers and libraries have been asked to consider the direction of their local and government leaders, and then make informed decisions about temporary closures.

FamilySearch appreciates your understanding and encourages you to use the vast genealogical resources available at FamilySearch.org. to continue your family discoveries. During the time the Family History Library is closed, personal assistance will continue to be provided online through FamilySearch Community and Family History Library Classes and Webinars.

FamilySearch webinars can be viewed live online. If you cannot attend at that time, you can view a recording of the webinar at your convenience later on.
