Finding Current & Historic Photos

Oh, it is so great to have photos of family members, family homes or businesses. Unfortunately, it can be very hard to sometimes locate such photos for your family History project. The next best thing would be photos of a town, typical house, town landmark, automobiles or similar businesses owned by your ancestors.

A new website ‘Unsplash‘ is a website dedicated to sharing stock photography under the Unsplash license. The website claims over 110,000 contributing photographers and generates more than 9 billion photo impressions per month on their growing library of over 810,000 photos. Also, they have a search box to help locate those photos on the site. If you locate a photo of interest, you can download it and use the photo for all sorts of purposes free of charge. This is a wonderful new resource.

Also, the photos cover decades and decades of images from all across the globe. Yes, something related to your family or its hometown could be there.

In doing a search, a long list of images will appear. Find something of interest, click on it for more details. Reminder, similar hometowns are located across the United States.

This can be fun just to see what photos you can find. If you want to submit some photos to be included there is a tab in the upper right side to provide instructions of how to submit to ‘Upslash‘.
