There are plenty of apps that genealogists can use to learn about noteworthy historical information from a specific place. Here are a few to get started with.

Museum of London Streetmuseum
The Museum of London Streetmuseum app is available on iOS or Android. It includes hundreds if images from the Museum of London’s extensive collections. Select a destination on the London map in the app. Hold your camera up to the present day street scene and see the image of the same London location through time.

HISTORY
The HISTORY app was created by the History Channel. It is available on iPad, iPhone, Android, Windows Tablets, and Windows Phone 8. Use the app to watch your favorite HISTORY shows and content.

The app gives you free access to full episodes, clips, and topical videos to watch whenever you want. Genealogists can focus on content that has something to do with areas of the world where their ancestors lived or came from.

HISTORY Here
The HISTORY Here was also created by the HISTORY Channel. It is a Webby Award-winning interactive travel guide to thousands of historic locations across the United States. Genealogists can use the app to learn more about the history of their own neighborhood or the history of a place that they are visiting or vacationing at.

This app would be great to have while going on a genealogy road trip! The app requires iOS 7.0 or later and is compatible with iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch. It might also be used on Apple Watch. Android users can get this app from Google Play.

Texas Historical Landmarks
The Texas Historical Landmarks was created by Enola Labs. It is available for iOS and on the Apple Watch. The app is for Texas history enthusiasts. It has a database of over 14,000 Texas state landmarks, and you can view historical markers, descriptions, and photos.

Explorer
Explorer is an app that was created by the American Museum of Natural History. It is available through the App Store and on Google Play. The app allows you to chart your own course through the American Museum of Natural History (which is located in New York City). The app acts as your personal tour guide. You need to have Bluetooth turned on in order to get the full functionality of the Explorer app.

Genealogists might want to check out the Theodore Roosevelt Memorial at the Museum. It is a permanent exhibition. Or, if you want to dig really deep into your family history, you can check out the Human Origins and Cultural Halls.
