HistoryLines has been certified with FamilySearch. It is part of a growing list of partners that FamilySearch is compatible with.

FamilySearch is a popular genealogy website that is free to use. It is a service provided by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Everyone is welcome to use FamilySearch, no matter what their religion (or lack thereof). FamilySearch provides plenty of resources for genealogists, and frequently adds new resources.

HistoryLines helps genealogists who are struggling to learn more about their ancestors and have limited information about them. The HistoryLines app can give you a generalized glimpse into what that ancestor’s life might have been like.

Think for a moment about an ancestor who you tried to research and then hit a “brick wall”. HistoryLines can help create an approximate life story for that ancestor based on a place and date from that ancestor’s life. HistoryLines will create a detailed and editable life sketch describing what your ancestor’s life might have been like based on the history of their location.

The HistoryLines app was officially certified by FamilySearch at the end of November of 2015. When FamilySearch declares that something has been certified, it means that the product is compatible with FamilySearch.org and that it has features that conform to FamilySearch’s strict standards of quality.

You can find information about more genealogy apps that have been certified by FamilySearch by browsing through the FamilySearch App Gallery. The New and Noteworthy section shows apps that have been recently added and that are ones FamilySearch suggests that genealogists should pay attention to.

It can be reassuring to know that the apps certified by FamilySearch are a good product (and not a scam). FamilySearch has approved of HistoryLines. They have taken a close look at it, made sure it is compatible with the FamilySearch website, and that the app functions as it should.

FamilySearch is free to use. HistoryLines, however, is not. The price is $9.99 a month or $59.00 a year. A free trial is available for those who want to try it out before spending a lot of money. The HistoryLines app can read information from your FamilySearch account. It cannot update information from your FamilySearch account, and it cannot support LDS Features. It appears that you do not necessarily have to have a FamilySearch account in order to use HistoryLines. However, if you do have one, the app will read pull information from it for you.
