Kenton County Public Library Genealogy Events - January 2017



kenton-county-public-library-genealogy-events-january-2017The Kenton County Public Library opened in 2012. It was the only Star Ranked library in the Commonwealth of Kentucky by the publication Library Journal in 2013 and in 2014. The library is offering genealogy classes in January of 2017.

The Kenton County Public library main branch is located in Independence, Kentucky. There is also a Kenton Public Library located in Covington, Kentucky. The genealogy classes will be held in the Local History Department at the Kenton County Public Library that is located in Covington, Kentucky.

This is a new monthly live-streaming program that will be held online. “TIL” stands for “Today I learned.” January’s theme is Research Preparation! Join them each month to learn something new or to help you find your ancestors. View online by tuning into @KentonLibrary on Periscope.

Join us for a tour of the department! We will highlight some of the gems of the collection, selecting our favorite books from the shelves and pulling open the microfilm drawers to show you what is available for your research.

January 17, 2017: Lineage Society Research Assistance
Looking to join a lineage society, but not sure where to start? Local members of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution will be in the Local History & Genealogy Department to discuss the necessary steps toward membership and to help you with research questions.

January 18, 2017: ELI5: Family History
This is a new monthly live-streaming genealogy program. “ELI5” stands for “explain it like I’m five!” Watch as they answer befuddling questions about doing family history research. View online by tuning into @KentonLibrary on Periscope.
