The Kentucky Historical Society will launch a new television program called “Kentucky Ancestors”. It will debut on major Kentucky television networks. The show will run from February to June of 2021, and is hosted by Renee Shaw.
Kentucky Ancestors Town Hall is described as a program centered on genealogy discovery. It digs into the roots of Kentucky’s family tree to answer big questions that have eluded families for generations. By making connections between family folklore and the existing historical record, the KHS team investigates a series of mysteries rooted in Kentucky genealogy and reveals the findings in a live presentation.
Head of the Library and Archives at the Kentucky Historical Society, Cheri Daniels, said, “By delving into these compelling family histories and then sharing our findings, we hope to inspire others to trace their roots. These cases offer invaluable teaching moments that give people new tips and techniques for solving their own family mysteries. They also tell some of Kentucky’s most rich and fascinating stories, and those moments can be really exciting and sometimes very emotional.”
Those who are interested in participating in the Kentucky Ancestors Town Hall show can apply to have their story told. There is a form on the Kentucky Historical Society website that you can fill out. They are seeking stories of a family history mystery that you need help solving. They are prioritizing family stories that include a Kentucky specific mystery. It is unclear how long that form will remain available.
