My Heritage – Listing Names



Sometimes it is good to review many different resources to see if there are any matches to an ancestor of yours. Using the online database ‘My Heritage’ you can submit a name and all the locations and other databases with matches will appear.

Helpful is the many different resources with the details provided. Using the example of ‘Daisy Kershaw‘ – My Heritage has listed 17 different resources. From United States census to England and Wales Census, to Australia death index or birth-marriage and death indexes for England. Provided are those with Kershaw as a married name and those where it is the maiden name.

True, not all these will have information on the specific ‘Daisy Kershaw’ you are looking for. However, it is a good start. This search with My Heritage is known as ‘Super Search‘. You can do a basic search or an advanced search (tab on the right) if you have more details. It will provide ‘stars’ on how close a match is each source.

Many are part of the My Heritage site, so you do need to sign-in as a member for the details on each or try for sure their 2-week free membership. Some sources are listed as free and can be accessed by anyone.
