MyHeritage Added New York Resources to SuperSearch

MyHeritage announced that it has added two collections to SuperSearch. Both of these collections are resources for genealogists who are looking for information about New York relatives and ancestors.

MyHeritage explains: “The collections are valuable to everyone looking to discover new information about their ancestors, especially those with connections to New York State. Newspapers and marriage license records provide key insights into what our ancestors’ lives were like throughout history.”

The first collection is called New York Newspapers, 1806-2007. It includes 1,900,382 pages in 56 sources. This collection is a compendium of newspapers published in various cities and towns in the state of New York from the early 1800s.

Newspapers are a great resource for genealogy and family history. Newspapers can also contain vital records substitutes such as birth, marriage, and death notices. The Society pages can include stories of local interest and rich information about activities and events in the community. These pages often provide details about the people involved.

The second collection is called New York City Marriage License Index, 1908-1929. It includes 3,025,064 records. The collection is an index to marriage licenses filed at the New York City Clerk Offices from the five boroughs from 1908 to 1929.

The index includes given names and surnames of both the bride and the groom, the date of the license application, and the license number. The images in the collection were obtained through the outstanding work and efforts of Reclaim the Records.

This newly digitized content is available for searching in SuperSearch, MyHeritage’s global search engine for historical records. In addition, the MyHeritage Record Matching technology will automatically bring up relevant historical records from the new collections that match individuals in your family tree. A MyHeritage subscription is required to access these two newly added collections.
