MyHeritage DNA Surpassed One Million People

MyHeritage put together an informative blog post about the noteworthy things they accomplished in 2017. That list includes the announcement that MyHeritage DNA surpassed one million people.

Over the past fifteen years, MyHeritage DNA has helped millions of people find new family members and discover their ethnic origins. The MyHeritage DNA test offers you the powerful experience of discovering what makes you unique and learning where you came from. The test does not require blood or saliva – a simple cheek swap is all you need to provide.

MyHeritage announced that MyHeritage DNA has surpassed one million people in the DNA database. They provided additional details about that:

“We’re already at 1.05 million, in fact. This grew very quickly from the 670,000 figure we announced in the middle of November. The one million is roughly comprised of about 80% MyHeritage DNA customers and 20% of people who uploaded DNA data from other DNA services. We’re proud to be the fastest company to get there, i.e., the company that took the least time to reach the size of one million people from the launch of its DNA product.”

The more people who have taken a specific DNA test – the better it is for consumers. The more than one million people who have taken the MyHeritage DNA test means that everyone who takes the test has an excellent chance of being matched to people who are not using any other DNA service. This includes people who are outside of the United States. The MyHeritage DNA test is available in 42 languages.

In 2018, MyHeritage is going to continue working on a major revamp of matching algorithms. They also will add a preliminary Chromosome Browser which will be released in early January of 2018. Those who use MyHeritage DNA, and who have taken a DNA test from another company, can upload their DNA data to MyHeritage.

The MyHeritage DNA test can help you discover relatives who share DNA segments with you, inherited from a common ancestor. It can also uncover ethnic and geographic origins of your ancestors, from the largest pool of possible ethnicities in the industry.
