RootsTech Connect



Between February 25-27, 2021 will be a global RootsTech Connect, sponsored by FamilySearch.org. It will truly be global and virtual. An interesting aspect for 2021 is they are accepting submissions no later than December 18 and December 31, 2020 for various types of videos from the general public that will be featured during the conference. There are multiple video categories and subcategories, meaning there are definitely something you can add to make the conference special.

There is Category One – Heritage Video – anyone can submit a heritage discovery video with a theme of family / cultural food; Hometowns anywhere in the world (what makes them special); Culture and Traditions – a video focused on traditions of a family, clothing, activities, holidays, or activities.

For Category Two – Tips and Advice / Tricks in doing genealogical research. This includes doing a video about finally breaking through a family ‘brick wall’ or finding a totally unknown branch of your family tree., or discovering a famous ancestor. You could do a video about the places you found family details and information.

There are guidelines for the videos Heritage and their submission to be accepted. Go to the link RootTech Connect so you can apply your video. It explains the length of a video (90 seconds to 5 minutes) and the requirements to upload the video in MP4 format. The Heritage Discovery Videos must be submitted by December 18, 2020.

For submitting Tips and Tricks, scroll down that same link to see the requirements. Requirements include being less than 3 minutes in length and upload in MP4 format. The deadline for this category is December 31, 2020.
