Scrapbook Yourself

When was the last time you did a scrapbook layout about yourself? Whenever I look through the pages of my scrapbook albums, I find plenty of scrapbook layouts of my kids, or other family members. Sometimes, I even find one of myself with another person, like one of my children. But, when I look through the pages of my scrapbooks, I don’t find many pictures of just myself. Alone. I don’t find a lot of journaling about who I am. What I love.

So, think about creating a layout dedicated to just you. Or, better yet, create a whole album about just you.

One idea is to turn your journal into a more scrapbook like experience. Some people are great at writing in their journals. This is a way to preserve your heritage for future generations. A journal contains your innermost thoughts and feelings. Your posterity will get a true glimpse of who you are by what you write. But, why not make that journal a little more beautiful in the process. If you love keeping a journal, but can’t fathom the idea of starting up the skill of scrapbooking, then start simple. Add photos here and there throughout your journals. When you are writing, leave pages in between entries to go back and add a photo. Think of adding simple embellishments like photo mattes, and ribbon, or stickers to give your journal more life.

I, for one, am horrible at journaling. But, I love to scrapbook. So, for me, it is a challenge to put just a picture of me on a page, and then fill up the page with journaling about myself. But, it can be done. Here are a few ideas for layouts about yourself that you could create.

*Scrapbook your favorite song. Include the lyrics of the song, why it is meaningful to you, and a picture of yourself.

*Scrapbook a life-changing moment. If something happened to you that changed you forever, then scrapbook it. Again, all you need is a picture of yourself on the layout and some meaningful journaling.

*Scrapbook your favorite things. Make a list of all of your favorites things right now in your life.

*Scrapbook a day in your life.

*Scrapbook about why you scrapbook.

When I look at my scrapbooks, I have a lot of pride in what I do. I see my personality on every page. But, if I’m not actually on the pages, or telling my story, then no one will know me. They may know my kids, or my spouse, but not me. And, it’s important when scrapbooking your family heritage, that YOU aren’t forgotten.
